Multi-factor authentication

Multi-factor authentication (MFA) provides a second layer of security that stops anyone else from accessing your account, even if they know your password.

For security reasons, we recommend you install the authenticator app on a different device than the one you use to access Stock&Buy. This is especially important if you share the device you use to access Stock&Buy with others. For example, if multiple individuals use one desktop computer, installing the authenticator app on it could allow one user to authenticate another user’s login fraudulently. To avoid this, we recommend you install the authenticator app on a different device.

You can choose any authenticator app that supports time-based one-time password (TOTP). Examples of such apps: Authy, Google Authenticator, and Microsoft Authenticator.

We highly recommend Authy as your Authenticator App.

If you don’t have a smartphone or can’t use your smartphone for MFA, you can install an authenticator app such as Authy to your laptop or desktop computer.

Requirements for setting up MFA

  • Your own your Stock&Buy user account and login credentials. You should never share passwords with others.
  • An authenticator app installed on a smartphone, device, or computer with an internet connection.
  • Access to your Stock&Buy account with a web browser.

Enable 2FA for your organization

To enable 2FA on your account:

  1. Login to your account using your email and password
  2. Go to Account Settings, then click on Profile and Organization settings.
  3. Scroll down to the Security section and click Enable 2FA.

You will be redirected to a setup page that will take you through three steps to activate 2FA on your account.

You can choose to remember your device so the login prompt won’t ask for a 2FA code for 14 days. After 14 days, the system will automatically prompt you to enter a code you generate from the Authenticator app
