A bill of materials also referred to as (BOM) is a comprehensive list of the raw materials or parts contributing to build a finished product. Each line of the BOM specifies the component name along with the number of units used in the production process.
Creating BOMs
- Go to Inventory > Products.
- Click Create Product.
- Enter your product details (i.e. name, description…).
- Press Save to save your changes.
- Scroll to the bottom-right of the page and click Convert to Bundle.
- In the bundle dialog, check the This is a manufactured product checkbox.
- To enter the different BOM parts, click Add line.
- Click Save & close.

Editing BOMs
To edit an existing bill of material:
- Go to Inventory > Products.
- Click the product that you want to edit.
- Under Inventory, click Edit Bundle.
- Modify your components’ details.
- Click Save & close.

Converting a variant to BOM
There are times when you’d wish to change a variant or bundle that currently exists into a bill of materials.
To convert an existing simple product to a BOM:
- Under Inventory > Products, search for the product you want to edit.
- Click on the product name to open its details.
- Scroll to the bottom of the page and click Convert to Bundle.
- Modify the bill of material details.
- Press Save & close.

To convert an existing variable product to a BOM:
- Under Inventory > Products, search for the product you want to edit.
- Click on the product name to open its details.
- Scroll to the variants table and select the variant that you want to convert.
- Click on the Actions variant menu (at the right-hand side of the variants table).
- Click Convert to bundle / Bill of Material.
- Click on the variant name to open the BOM details.
- Modify the bill of material details.
- Press Save & close.
