Adding and updating Bill Of Materials

A bill of materials also referred to as (BOM) is a comprehensive list of the raw materials or parts contribute to building a finished product. Each line of the BOM specifies the component name along with the number of units used in the production process.

Create Bill Of Material

Bill Of Materials products are managed under the inventory section. To create a new BOM:

1. Login to your Stock&Buy account
2. Under Inventory, click Create Product
3. Enter the product details such as the name, description…
4. Press Save to save your changes
5. Scroll to the bottom of the product page and click Convert to Bundle
6. In the bundle dialog, check This is a manufactured product. checkbox
7. Enter the different BOM parts
8. Press Save & Close

The BOM window exposes the following fields:

Product name: name of the BOM component.
SKU: Stock keeping unit of the BOM component.
In Stock: Indicates the total stock on hand of the BOM component
Available: Indicates the available stock of the BOM component
Cost: Moving average cost of the BOM component
Quantity in Bundle / BOM: The number of units of the BOM components required to build the final product

Edit Bill of Material

To edit an existing bill of material:

1. Login to your Stock&Buy account
2. Under Inventory, search for the product you want to edit
3. Click on the product name to open its details
4. To edit the bill of material definition, click on Edit Bundle under the inventory section
5. Modify the bill of material details
6. Press Save & Close

You can only edit bill of material products that are not in use in open sale orders, purchase orders or production orders.

Convert a variant to a BOM

There are situations where you would like to convert an already existing variant or bundle into a Bill of Material.

To convert an existing simple product to a BOM:

1. Login to your Stock&Buy account
2. Under Inventory, search for the product you want to edit
3. Click on the product name to open its details
4. Scroll to the bottom of the page
5. Click Convert to Bundle
6. Modify the bill of material details
7. Press Save & Close

To convert an existing variable product to a BOM:

1. Login to your Stock&Buy account
2. Under Inventory, search for the product you want to edit
3. Click on the product name to open its details
4. Scroll to the variants table
5. Select the variant you would like to convert
6. Click on the Bulk Actions variant menu (at the right-hand side of the variants table)
7. Click Convert to Bundle / Bill of material menu
8. Click on the variant name to open the BOM details
9. Modify the bill of material details
10. Press Save & Close
